Authentic Leadership: Learn To Lead By Being Your True Self

Requirements

Have you ever wondered how certain leaders attract followers like magnets? After this course, you’ll gain the self-awareness to answer that question on your own.

In 25 days we’ll go on a journey of introspection and reflection to help you deeply connect with who you truly are. Once you learn who you are, it will be easier to lead authentically.

Using research based activities, you’ll master the four core competencies of authentic leadership one week at a time. You will learn:

  1. What characters make a leader authentic.
  2. An assessment of your level of authenticity as a leader.
    1. Development of your self-awareness through daily activities and finding out: who you really are, the gifts you have, things you love, what drives you, your strengths, opportunities for improvements, core values, morals, and your emotions.
    2. Development of your internal moral compass through daily activities which uncover: your most important life domains, core values, character strengths, and how to use this insight to guide your behavior.
    3. Development of balanced processing through daily activities to update your decision-making process, expanding your perspectives and develop empathy for others, and ensure your decisions remain objective.
    4. Development of relational transparency through daily practice of writing down your feelings, and making incremental jumps from trusted family, to colleagues, and eventually followers.

During my research, authentic leadership has been shown to improve:

  1. Trust among followers: As followers see that your words align with your behavior and moral compass, they will develop trust overtime.
  2. Transparent communication: Followers will return the favor based on the social exchange theory. What goes around, comes around!
  3. Optimism and performance: Authentic leaders model ethical and moral behaviors that followers will mirror, which can positively influence the work climate and customer relations.
  4. Increase employee psychological empowerment: which results in increases in proactive behavior and innovative thinking.

Once you learn the four core characteristics of authentic leadership and apply your insights to your life, you can have people CHOOSING to follow you.
